Small-group minibus tour · Reykjavík hotels and bus stops

The lagoon in a small van

A long day from Reykjavík to Jökulsárlón and Diamond Beach in a minibus of no more than 19, with Vík, Foss á Síðu and, in summer, the Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon on the way. Pick it if you want a smaller group and a driver-guide who talks you through the whole coast.

Glacier Lagoon & Fjaðrárgljúfur Small Group

About this experience

Pickup runs from 7:30 to 8:00 at hotels or designated bus stops (also Reykjavík suburbs and the cruise port). You head east via Vík, with its church above the Reynisdrangar sea stacks, then Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon if conditions allow (summer only), and Foss á Síðu, where wind can push the water back up. Jökulsárlón is the main stop, then Diamond Beach. On the way back you stop at the turf church at Hof and at Seljalandsfoss. The listing gives 14 to 16 hours; one guest was out from 7:30 to 11 pm.

On the water: the boat is not included. The listing says you can admire the icebergs from the shore or take an amphibian boat ride for a closer look at additional cost. That ride is the lagoon operator's own amphibian, paid on top: 7,100 ISK for adults, 3,500 ISK for children 6 to 12, free under 6 (2026 prices). The lagoon's own boats belong to its boat operator (Jökulsárlón ehf / Glacier Lagoon): amphibian tours run from May to about mid-November and Zodiac tours from May to the end of October, weather and ice permitting (operator's 2026 schedule). After that, the shore is the plan, and the stop still works: icebergs, seals often, the beach across the road.

Food and drinks are not included; you buy them at the stops. Icelandic law requires child seats or boosters, so tell the operator in advance if you travel with children. Pack warm, windproof and waterproof clothes and outdoor shoes. In winter the listing adds a chance of northern lights on the drive home, never a promise. On short autumn days some stops on the return come after dark.

The day spent with Hoskuldur flew by in an instant. The stops are spectacular, and even though it's a long day, it's absolutely worth the time spent. The view of the lagoon from the amphibious boat is also highly recommended!
